John Butcher, Head Cutter

“Mr Butcher” as customers still reverently address him, is a legend within London’s shirt cutting community. He has presided over his cutting board at Budd for almost sixty years, but started his career as an apprentice at Edoardo & Butler aged just sixteen. Mr Butcher has cut shirts for a galaxy of individuals and has an unparalleled knowledge of cut, construction and cloth and is a fantastic mentor to the team. His dominance of the cutting room is displayed not only in the calibre of the shirts he cuts, but by the dent in the floor, where he has stood at his board since his very first days with the company.

Darren Tiernan, Senior Cutter

Darren's infectious, baritone laugh and convivial manner echoes through Budd's three floors at regular intervals. 2027 will see him celebrate forty years as a bespoke cutter. Darren followed a traditional shirt making apprenticeship into the trade, starting out at Bowring & Arundel in Savile Row before progressing on to New & Lingwood, Dege & Skinner and briefly Davies & Sons. He had long admired the work and authenticity of Budd’s bespoke offering and didn’t hesitate for one second when invited to join the team back in 2011. He holds an intricate knowledge of shirtmaking, having created shirts of all types over the decades, many of which have appeared on the big screen.

Lizandra Cardoni, Cutter and Women’s Bespoke Head Cutter

Hailing from Brazil, Lizandra Cardoni came to the UK over a decade ago with the clear ambition of training to be a shirt cutter and tailor. Throughout her university years and early professional life in São Paulo she found herself more passionate about shirtmaking than she did about her actual career in marketing, and after initial teaching and guidance from local tailoresses, decided to relocate to London to gain formal training.

Since earning her degree in bespoke tailoring at London College of Fashion, Lizandra has worked for some of the Uk’s most revered shirtmakers. She has extensively training and talent in both men’s and women’s bespoke tailoring, applying her understanding for the female form, its complexities and the multitude of styles and needs.
